Discover Haren, the historic villa village in the Dutch countryside

In the early 20th century Haren became known for its spacious and architectural villas, making the then-independent town a sought-after residential location in the north of the Netherlands. Today, many of those marvellous villas and their uniquely Dutch characteristics are protected monuments. The grounds of the International School Groningen are home to one such monument, Villa Esserberg, which is one of the most recognisable tokens of Haren, and also holds activities of the school.

Easy access to our campus

International School Groningen is only a 10-minute drive from the Groningen Central Station and historic city centre. Buses 50, 51 run regularly between the school and the city centre.

Most students prefer commuting by bicycle, with many designated bicycle lanes completely separated from car traffic along the way. Please park your bike at the bicycle park at the back of the Hemmenlaan building on campus, where bikes are watched and covered by insurance. It remains open until 18:00.
