Thriving as active learners
International School Groningen is an International Baccalaureate® (IB) World School, providing a supportive learning environment that equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their future endeavours.
The IB Middle Years Programme is an internationally recognised programme offered in 100 countries, ensuring that students can continue their studies seamlessly in the event that they move to another IB school outside of the Netherlands.
MYP is suitable for students ages 11-16. After completing MYP, students exhibiting a strong academic ability and a desire to continue their studies may be eligible to transfer to the 2-year Diploma Programme <link to DP>, a pre-university programme offered at ISG.
The IB learner profile
IB Middle Years Programme is designed to foster students who embody the IB learner profile. These characteristics include: curiosity and a love of learning, a strong knowledge base, critical and creative thinking skills, effective communication abilities, strong principles and a sense of fairness, openness to new ideas and perspectives, compassion and care for others, a willingness to take calculated risks, a balanced approach to life that considers intellectual, physical, and emotional well-being, and a capacity for self-reflection.

Sciences
Uncovering the relationship between science, ethics, economics, politics, and the environment.
Mathematics
Representing information, modelling situations, and finding solutions to familiar and unfamiliar problems.
Physical and health education
Developing a taste for physical activity and learning the value of a healthy lifestyle.
Arts
creating, performing and presenting arts in ways that convey feelings, experiences and ideas.
Design

Language of study
An English-first education with Dutch Sensibility
The studies at ISG are conducted in English, requiring students to exhibit sufficient English literacy. Dutch is taught as a second language, to help students communicate and feel oriented in Dutch society and culture.
